Revolutionizing Tradition: The Bestore Gifted Box

TIGER PAN's Innovative Design Marries Ancient Inspiration with Modern Functionality

Unveiling a unique design that combines traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern functionality, TIGER PAN's Bestore Gifted Box is a testament to innovative design. This article delves into the inspiration, unique properties, and realization technology of this award-winning design.

The Bestore Gifted Box, designed by TIGER PAN, is a remarkable example of how design can transform a simple object into a unique piece of art. The gifted boxes, inspired by an ancient Chinese court food-container, provide users with a set of recycled handy trays and saucers when unpacked, thus saving much effort to buy or find them.

Bestore, a leading Chinese company in the leisure food industry, entrusted TIGER PAN to design a set of annual gifted containers to boost its sales volume. The design team decided to create an eye-catching and delicate design to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival, in a market that is underdeveloped and disordered.

The gifted box is unique in its design and realization. The use of wet-pressing MPP, which reduces the use of plastic material, the subtle hot stamping, and the braille printed inside, endow the package with a sense of intimacy, delicacy, and humanity. The main gifted box contains 12 smaller boxes, with the outer container designed in a traditional Chinese style and the inner boxes in a pop-art style.

The design team collaborated with illustrators from different countries to create 12 jocular boxes, which showcase the traits of the products inside very well and are easily applicable for AD campaign. The design has been well received by consumers, ranking the top among competitive products on major leading online shopping websites in China.

The design project, which started in November 2018 and finished in January 2019, was a challenge in terms of production cost due to the vivid colours used. However, the team managed to reduce the cost by comparing the time consumption and technique used for various producers. The result is a gifted box that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and cost-effective.

Despite the challenges, the Bestore Gifted Box has been a success, achieving an independent online sales of over 1.2 million USD for the first 3 days after its launch to market on 7th Jan, 2019. The design was awarded Silver in A' Packaging Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
